I believe in protecting our water resources.
Water is one of our most precious commodities and serves every resident of Highland. This year we are in a drought and we need to be mindful of this.
Those of you who have lived in Utah for a long time know Utah can be fickle about water; this year we have a drought and next year we may continue with the drought or be fighting floods. We need to be thoughtful about water as a whole. While we need to work to fight the drought we also know we must address the wells in Highland. This will become critical over time so it should be planned for early and prior to any emergency.
I support asking for a voluntary decrease in water usage, but this is not providing enough decrease to make the change we need. For this reason, I support the metering of water so that each resident has the use of water and can choose to be more frugal or pay their share of the water usage, allowing funds to help all residents have the appropriate water for their needs.
